I love reading blogs and have recently become a huge fan of several fashion blogs. Numerous tips and tricks to help you feel like a fashionista in your own closet – yes please!
My favorite trick learned from fashion blogs, making getting dressed easier? It’s simple really….buy multiples. Not as in, like one pair of pants and buy multiples in several colours, but rather like a pair of red jeans for example and buy a skirt, shorts, and perhaps capris in the same colour. It really will make dressing SO much easier and give you the option of taking an outfit from morning til night, from one event to the next, with ease!
{LOVE}
Inspired by this trick and how it can work for those of us who aren’t fashion bloggers, I enlisted one of my closest friends for a day filled with outfits and photos, and a whole lot of laughs!
We got together with piles of shirts from both of our closets,
over a dozen pairs of shoes,
and our entire {and deliciously ridiculous} collection of jewelry.
Our *bottoms* colour of choice? White – it’s so summery and fresh to me and can look so classy and work for any occasion. Not only was it the one colour my friend had each of these items in, but for the two of us who are a little less *brave* when it comes to colour mixing it gave a great basic *canvas* to work with!
We had SO much fun.
I love this shirt and the way it looks with the plain white pants. I totally think this could be a work outfit, particularly if you had a white blazer to *dress* it up a bit {if your job needs that}
Just having some fun with shoe options to add a fun flare. I personally love adding a colour splash with shoes and get excited when it works with an outfit I’m wearing. #makesmehappy
Again with a quick colour pop…These purple shoes are my FAVORITE!
But, on with the task!
Pairing this striped shirt with white capris is a great way to dress up or down in warm summery weather. We used heels in all of our shots mostly because of a lack of applicable sandals and flats {we’ll have to remedy that}, but throwing on some casual footwear would really make this outfit perfect for running errands, lunch with the girls, or a low key event.
And yet heels dress it up just enough. Throw on a white blazer or cardigan with this as well {or coloured if you feel so inclined} to add even more versatility.
And of course the skirt – I know in the photo above {at the top}, there were two skirts pictured, but we really only used the one {same with the capris/shorts}. The pencil skirt, which takes this look this look perfectly to evening, church, or other semi-formal events {ie funerals, summer weddings, etc.} where maybe the white pants wouldn’t quite cut it.
I loved seeing how easily a shirt could be taken from one event to another, simply by changing the type of bottoms you are wearing. And it was so fun to accessorize with each change, to really maximize on the impact.
My friend and I had so much fun trying to work with what we have already to put this tip to the test. You can bet I’ll be doing more *shopping with a purpose* to make this work in my own closet.
Do you have a favorite *fashion tip* you think is worth sharing?
